The Second International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Software Engineering officially commenced on Tuesday, December 25, at Shiraz University. It intends to enhance practical and theoretical knowledge and facilitate information exchange among researchers, companies, and industries in the fields of artificial intelligence, software engineering, and biomedical engineering. According to the public relations office of Shiraz University, Dr. Hooman Tahiri, the executive secretary of the conference, stated that during the ceremony, four specialized panels on the application of artificial intelligence in various branches of medical sciences with the presence of university professors and 20 scientific lectures are planned.
He noted that the event is being organized with the comprehensive cooperation of Shiraz University and Shiraz University of Medical Sciences which aims to synergize the universities affiliated with the Ministries of Science, Research and Technology, and Health, Treatment and Medical Education.
Dr. Tahiri mentioned that over 40 papers have been accepted for presentation in nine oral sessions, along with more than 20 papers for poster presentation. He added that in the past two days, 10 specialized workshops on artificial intelligence and software engineering have been conducted to familiarize interested individuals and researchers with the latest advancements in these fields. Workshops included topics such as:
- Quantitative processing of brain MRI images using FSL tools
- Quantum approaches and artificial intelligence in medical equipment (ECG engineering)
- Implementation of deep neural networks
- Application of artificial intelligence in drug design and biological systems
- Creative problem-solving methods
- Hacking and penetration testing of web applications
- Data mining using R programming language
- Capability-based enterprise architecture and its application in organizational integration
- Dynamic system modeling and control using machine learning methods, data science, and operator theory
- The impact of emerging technologies on security.
He also mentioned that two roundtables, "Artificial Intelligence in Industry: Needs and Requirements" and "Defining Priorities in the Development of Cognitive Sciences and Technologies," are other programs included in the conference. Dr. Tahiri highlighted that the conference encompasses a range of theoretical and practical aspects of artificial intelligence, software engineering, information technology, and biomedical engineering. Therefore, all professors, doctors, researchers, students, industries, and enthusiasts in these fields have been invited to attend.
Furthermore, the conference will feature the first AISOFT-Challenge programming competition, designed to inspire and motivate students, create a lively and competitive environment, deepen learning, and respond to the demands of Fars industries for identifying and introducing professional programmers.
Dr. Tahiri noted that this conference has received endorsement and support from 16 reputable local and international scientific associations and centers. He also mentioned that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Shiraz University. Graduates of the Computer Engineering Department will gather in Razi Hall for the closing ceremony on December 26.
