نشست علمی گروه تاریخ دانشگاه شیراز و گروه تاریخ و باستان شناسی دانشگاه گرجستان در دفتر مرکز مطالعات مدیترانه شرقی (ایسمئو) بخش تاریخ دانشکده ادبیات و علوم انسانی دانشگاه شیراز برگزار شد.
در این نشست علمی اعضای هیأت علمی بخش تاریخ و بخش فرهنگ و زبان های باستانی دانشکده ادبیات و علوم انسانی و همچنین سه تن از استادان تاریخ و زبان های باستانی دانشگاه گرجستان و دکتر پیرفرانچسکو کالیری استاد باستان شناسی دانشگاه بولونیا ایتالیا حضور داشتند.
دکتر احمد فضلی نژاد رئیس بخش تاریخ دانشگاه شیراز در ابتدای نشست ضمن خوشامدگویی به میهمانان، بر لزوم ارتباط علمی و انتقال تجربیات بین اعضاء هیأت علمی دو دانشگاه شیراز و گرجستان تأکید کرد و آمادگی بخش تاریخ دانشگاه شیراز را در برگزاری نشست های علمی، مبادله استاد و دانشجو، انجام پژوهش های مشترک و پایان نامه های دانشجویی در مورد میراث تاریخی و فرهنگی دو کشور اعلام نمود. سپس دکتر الکساندر چولوخازه از دانشگاه گرجستان درباره ''وام واژه های فارسی باستان در زبان گرجی'' به ایراد سخن پرداخت.
پس از وی خانم دکتر آلاسانیا گیولی در مورد ''پیمان سیاسی ایران و گرجستان در سده های 15- 17م''سخنرانی نمود.
سخنران بعدی خانم دکتر مانانا سانادزه بود که درباره ''استقرار خاندان ساسانی در گرجستان و دوره حکومت رونیز شاه و میریان شاه'' سخنرانی کرد.
آخرین سخنران این جلسه دکتر عبدالرسول خیراندیش استاد بخش تاریخ دانشگاه شیراز بود که درباره ''گرجستان در اندیشه ایرانیان'' به ایراد سخن پرداخت.
در پایان اعضاء هیأت علمی بخش تاریخ و بخش فرهنگ واژه های باستانی به نقد و نظر درباره جهت مطرح شده و همچنین راهکارهای ارتباط علمی بیشتر دپارتمان های دانشگاهی دو کشور پرداختند.
