The Center for Children's Literature Studies at Shiraz University has dedicated its ninth national conference to the theme of "Investigating the Representation and Role of Family in Children and Young Adults’ Literature" and has called on researchers to focus and research in this area.
Dr. Saeed Hassampour, the director of the Center for Children's Literature Studies at Shiraz University, explained this topic to the media on Monday, December 3, 2023, stating: One of the ways in which children's literature influences the audience is through the various representations that these works present to the audience from various social realities. Family is one of the most important social realities that forms the core of the lives of children, young adults, and society as a whole. The extent to which the diversity of family forms and various family relationships, as well as the role of each family member in their lives, are introduced to the audience plays an influential role in the way audiences view families and their members.
The scientific secretary of the ninth national conference on children's literature also addressed the themes of this conference and stated: Investigating the representation of various types of families in Iranian children's literature (nuclear families, single-child families, multi-child families, single-parent families, different roles within families, and relationships with families in children and young adults' literature, as well as families from different social, cultural, ethnic backgrounds, and urban and rural families; examining the representation of traditional families, modern families, and postmodern families; investigating the representation of the type of home, building, and its facilities, and family issues and problems (as reflected in children's and young adult literature); representing the presence and role of mobile phones, computers, virtual spaces, and media in families; examining the evolution of family representation in children and young adults' literature in recent decades and comparing Iranian and global children's literature based on these themes have been considered in this conference.
He announced that researchers and enthusiasts in the field of children and young adults can submit abstracts of their articles to the conference secretariat at the email address koodak@rose.shirazu.ac.ir until January 19, 2024. According to the director of the Center for Children's Literature Studies, the abstract review period will be until mid-February and the deadline for submitting full articles will be April 14, 2024, and this conference will be held on May 15 and 16, 2024 at Shiraz University.
