Shiraz University has signed cooperation agreements with the University of Zaragoza in Spain and the National Research Council of Italy (CNR IRPI) aimed at enhancing scientific, research, and technological collaboration.
According to the Public Relations Office of Shiraz University, these agreements focus on strengthening scientific relationships through joint research, researcher exchanges, library resources sharing, and organizing scientific seminars and educational meetings. Dr. Javad Tashkhourian, head of the International Scientific Cooperation Center at Shiraz University, explained that the agreement with the University of Zaragoza emphasizes collaboration in geographical studies and global issues, as well as sharing scientific and technical experiences.
In the agreement with the National Research Council of Italy, which aims to develop modern tools and methods in surveying, modeling, and assessing vulnerability and natural hazards, both institutions have agreed to share knowledge and scientific experiences related to the prediction and modeling of natural hazards and geo-hydrological risks. This collaboration will involve research at various scales, development of geo-hydrology models, modeling natural hazards using artificial intelligence techniques, faculty and student exchanges, and participation in scientific conferences.
Dr. Tashkhourian noted that these agreements, facilitated by Dr. Hamidreza Pourghasemi and Dr. Narges Kariminejad from the Faculty of Agriculture, have created new opportunities for international scientific and research collaboration, advancing science and technology in both countries. A joint committee comprising representatives from both universities will be established to oversee the implementation of these agreements.
Researchers and faculty members are encouraged to visit the International Scientific Cooperation Center's webpage at (https://international.shirazu.ac.ir/) for more information on available opportunities and calls for research.
