گرت بی. متیوز در کتابی با عنوان «فلسفه کودکی» با تمرکز بر نظریه ادبیات کودک و مفهوم کودکی زمینه ای را برای گفت وگو میان پژوهش گران، منتقدان و صاحب نظران ادبیات کودک فراهم آورده است. به گزارش خبرگزاری مهر، دیدگاه برخی از فیلسوفان درباره کودکی، نظریه و مدل های کودکی، پیاژه و فلسفه، پیاژه و نگه داری، رشد اخلاقی، حقوق کودکان، یادزدودگی کودکی و… عنوان بعضی از سرفصل های این کتاب است. بر این اساس، مرتضی خسرونژاد و فریده پورگیو در مقدمه این اثر آورده اند: اینک که چندین سال از تأسیس دوره کارشناسی ارشد ادبیات کودک در دانشگاه شیراز و چند دانشگاه دیگر کشور می گذرد، نیاز به منبع های معتبر و به روز در این زمینه هر دم آشکارتر احساس می شود. گرایش روزافزون دانشجویان دکتری در رشته های گوناگون علوم انسانی و تربیتی به تدوین رساله های خویش در قلمرو ادبیات کودک نیز بر این نیاز، پیوسته می افزاید. این اثر به طور ویژه برای درس های دوره کارشناسی ارشد ادبیات کودک در نظر گرفته شده و یا از چنان اعتبار و ژرفایی برخوردار است که به کار مطالعه همه دانشجویان علاقه مند به بحث های نظری و نیز منتقدان ادبیات کودک می آید. این کتاب با دارا بودن واژه نامه انگلیسی به فارسی، نمایه ی نامی و نمایه ی موضوعی در 10 فصل از سوی سعید و مریم حسام پور ترجمه و در شمارگان 2500 نسخه منتشر شده است. گفتنی است «فلسفه کودکی» در 144 صفحه و به قیمت 10 هزار تومان از سوی کانون پرورش فکری کودکان و نوجوانان به چاپ رسیده است.
