In a report by the Public Relations of Shiraz University, it was announced that during the Research Council meeting of Shiraz University in Aban, the "Dr. Abdolhossein Jahanmiri Memorial Award" was unveiled.
Dr. Hamed Taqavi, the research deputy of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering, Oil and Gas of Shiraz University, explained in introducing this award: To honor and emulate elites, scientific figures, and prominent individuals, as well as to create a spirit of effort and self-confidence among students and graduates of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering, Oil and Gas of Shiraz University, the Research Deputy of the Faculty annually calls for the top student researcher award in the name and memory of the late Dr. Abdolhossein Jahanmiri (the late professor of Chemical Engineering at Shiraz University).
He continued: This award is presented to students and graduates in the master's and doctoral levels who have passed a maximum of one year from their defense date and have acceptable research and educational backgrounds.
Dr. Taqavi announced that the research deputy of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering, Oil and Gas of Shiraz University invites applicants through the first registration.
He added that eligible candidates must first upload the completed registration form and necessary documents through the registration link by November 21, 2023. Then individuals who meet the initial requirements and the minimum required score will enter the evaluation process. In this stage, the jury will evaluate the documents of individuals and introduce 3 people with the highest scores in each level as the winners, who will be honored during the Research Week ceremony.
Professor Abdolhossein Jahanmiri (born in Shiraz in August 1957) received his bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering in 1985 from Amir Kabir University of Technology and went to England to continue his studies with a scholarship from Amir Kabir University. He received his master's degree in 1988 and his doctoral degree in 1992 from UMIST in England. After returning to Iran, he started teaching as a faculty member in the Chemical Engineering department of Shiraz University in 1992 and achieved the rank of professor in 2005. After years of hard work and dedication to the advancement of scientific knowledge in the country and presenting hundreds of articles, inventions, etc., Dr. Jahanmiri bid farewell to this world on September 27, 2013.
