The Nature Index is updated monthly and displays data for 12 months on its website.
The output of a paper for an institution, country, region, or city is calculated in two ways:
Number: If one or more authors of a research paper are from that institution or location, without regard to how many co-authors are from outside that institution or location, one point is awarded to the institution or location.
Share: A fractional count that takes into account the number of authors from an institution or country/region and the number of affiliated institutions in each article to calculate the share, the participation of all authors in the article is taken into account equally.
