دکتر فرید مر، استاد بخش زمین شناسی دانشگاه شیراز به سمت رئیس گروه علوم پایه فرهنگستان علوم منصوب شد.باتوجه به پایان دوره دوساله ریاست گروه علوم پایه و بر... دکتر فرید مر، استاد بخش زمین شناسی دانشگاه شیراز به سمت رئیس گروه علوم پایه فرهنگستان علوم منصوب شد. باتوجه به پایان دوره دوساله ریاست گروه علوم پایه و بر اساس توصیه مشورتی شورای گروه علوم پایه فرهنگستان علوم، طی حکمی از سوی دکتر رضا داوری اردکانی رئیس فرهنگستان علوم، دکتر فرید مُر برای یک دوره دوساله به عنوان «رئیس گروه علوم پایه فرهنگستان علوم» منصوب شد. پیش از این دکتر یوسف ثبوتی برای سه دوره متوالی ریاست گروه علوم پایه فرهنگستان را به عهده داشت. دکتر فرید مر مدرک دکتری تخصصی زمین شناسی اقتصادی را از دانشگاه لندن اخذ کرده و هم اکنون استاد رشته زمین شناسی دانشگاه شیراز است. وی از سال 1388 به عنوان عضو وابسته با فرهنگستان علوم همکاری داشته و از سال 1392 به عضویت پیوسته فرهنگستان علوم ایران برگزیده شده است. ریاست مرکز نشر دانشگاهی وزارت علوم، مسئولیت کمیته علمی المپیاد علوم زمین، ریاست انجمن زمین شناسی ایران، ریاست شاخه زمین شناسی فرهنگستان علوم، ریاست گروه واژه گزینی تخصصی زمین شناسی فرهنگستان زبان و ادب فارسی، دبیری شورای تحقیقات و فناوری کشور، دبیری هیات امنای منطقه چهار فناوری، ریاست پارک علم و فناوری استان فارس، ریاست مرکز زمین شناسی پزشکی دانشگاه شیراز و عضویت در هیئت تحریریه چندین مجله علمی، از جمله سوابق علمی- اجرایی دکتر مر بوده است. معرفی به عنوان زمین شناس برجسته کشور، معرفی به عنوان پژوهشگر برتر علوم پایه کشور، معرفی به عنوان استاد ممتاز و نمونه کشور، دریافت جایزه علامه طباطبایی بنیاد ملی نخبگان، کسب عنوان زمین شناس اقتصادی برجسته کشور، عضویت پیوسته در فرهنگستان علوم و کسب ده ها عنوان و جایزه در دانشگاه شیراز از جمله افتخارات استاد فرید مر است. تالیف و ترجمه بیش از 33 عنوان کتاب که بسیاری از آنها به عنوان کتاب برگزیده سال و کتاب تشویقی سال کشور و کتاب برگزیده دانشگاهی انتخاب شده اند، از دیگر خدمات ارزنده این استاد دانشگاه شیراز است. دکتر فرید مر بیش از 200 مقاله در نشریات علمی بین المللی و داخلی ارائه کرده و بیش از 170 مقاله از وی در نشریات بین المللی و داخلی به چاپ رسیده است.
