A group of foreign reporters visited Shiraz University the other day to meet with the university officials. The group, which consisted of reporters from news agencies such as China’s Phoenix, APA and ANS from Azerbaijan, Almenar from Lebnan and Iraq’s Aletejah, took a tour around the main campus before heading off to a press conference with Dr. Z. Azimifar, Head of the International Relations Affairs at Shiraz University.
Dr. Azimifar stated that this presence of foreign reporters proves the growing eagerness among foreign universities to strengthen their ties with Shiraz University. She then gave some statistical information on Shiraz University and its activities in different areas before giving a thorough report on how Shiraz University has increased its efforts to expand academic connections with foreign universities around the world in the post-sanctions era.
Focusing on quality instead of quantity is the policy that Shiraz University is pursuing and from Dr. Azimifar’s point of view, this just proves how important international relations with other academic centers around the world is crucial for the university’s growth and success. The increasingly growing number of MoUs with foreign universities in different fields, such as recent agreements with Gent University in Belgium, is just one example of the university’s commitment and concentration on this matter.
