Presidents of private universities in Afghanistan visited Shiraz University to strengthen and expand mutual academic collaborations.

At first, Dr. Azimifar, Head of the International Relations Affairs at Shiraz University, gave an introduction of Shiraz University and the different activities which is pursued to achieve the desired scientific outcomes.

Dr. E. Gashtasbirad, President of Shiraz University, also stated that Shiraz University is ready to give any kind of assistance regarding the education of students and scholars in Afghanistan. He also pointed out Farsi as the common language between both societies and added that this unity of language can benefit the mutual scientific flow among the two countries.

Dr. Z. H. Ershad, the Academic Vice President and Supervisor for Private Universities in Afghanistan, praised Shiraz and its outstanding university as an important cultural element of the region and gave some insight into the academic situation in Afghanistan. He stated that after putting aside the troubles Afghanistan went through, they have been able to establish 127 private universities so far, with about 167000 students in Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees and 5000 Doctoral students.

Dr. A. Safavi, Vice President of Shiraz University, expressed his contentment to see Afghanistan in a stable situation and added that with the valuable experience Shiraz University has to offer, many problems can be solved in the Afghan society, in fields such as water management, planning Doctoral courses for different fields of study, establishment of a faculty of electronics, English courses for Afghan scholars and the establishment of a virtual university.
